What is TAFE?
TAFE(Technical and Further Education) is a government-run system that provides education after high school in vocational areas, like beauty, design, childcare, accounting, business, IT, and many more. While university teaches a broad range of theories, TAFE focuses on specific skills for a particular workplace. TAFE is usually taught at TAFE Institutes around Australia, andcontinuously change course contents through networking with local communities and industry contacts.
Also practical lessons on sites and theoretical lessons are well balanced to provide mix of both theory and practice. Most TAFE provides ELICOS and university pathway programs. This shows the comprehensive range of education that TAFE provides to students. Also, students can transfer to 2nd or 3rd year of university courses. Intake dates are commonly in February and July.
Qualifications from TAFE
There are plenty of qualifications you can choose from TAFE in Australia, depending on the duration and job outcomes. Some courses offer a basic overview of a subject, while others a lot more specialised and can sometimes require work placement. These are the most common qualification types in Australia. Commonly TAFEs provide courses from certificate II to Advanced diploma, but some TAFEs also provide Bachelor degree courses including more practical courses with reasonable tuition fee compared to the fee of a university.
