Australian National University (ANU) was founded in 1946, and it is the only university to have been created by the Parliament of Australia. ANU is regarded as one of the world's leading research universities. It is ranked 1st in Australia and the whole of Oceania, 24th in the world by the 2019 QS World University Rankings, and 49th in the world (second in Australia) by the 2019 Times Higher Education. ANU has 25,500 students and a half of them are undertaking postgraduate degree programs. ANU counts six Nobel laureates and 49 Rhodes scholars among its faculty and alumni. The university has educated two prime ministers, 30 current Australian ambassadors and more than a dozen current heads of government departments of Australia

 The University of Canberra was first established in 1967 as the Canberra College of Advanced Education. The Canberra CAE became the University of Canberra under sponsorship of Monash University in 1990. It is ranked in top 100 young universities in the world, and shows high rate for employment after graduate, 89%, with higher starting salaries. The university guarantees on-campus accommodation for all new or continuing international students.
