Applying to Elite Universities
To enrol into elite universities, you can take a foundation course or complete a diploma course and transfer to elite universities. Steps to enrolling into elite universities are as below.
Foundation Program (University Preparation Program)
Foundation program is university preparation program for international students who did not graduate from high schools in Australia. In Australia, high school students study subjects that are assumed knowledge or pre-requisite to their future university course. International students who have studied in different education systems can adapt to Australian education system through foundation courses where they obtain basic knowledge related to their university course. Also, international student’s English skills can improve. Entry to university bachelor course is determined by the grade that student receive on completing foundation course . Entry to foundation program depends on final academic result from high school and English proficiency test result. Commonly, foundation program duration is 8 to 12 months.
Diploma (University Pathway Program)
Commonly for international students who graduated high school from overseas complete approximately 1 year foundation program and start studying in first year of university bachelor course. So, that means often 1 year of foundation plus 3 years of bachelor degree course. However if international student can study diploma straight away, then it is possible to start studying from second year of bachelor degree course after completing diploma.
